Valerieann
The Creation of an Artist . . .
Valerieann grew up in the small town of Georgetown, Idaho. In this environment, she was not exposed to the do's and don'ts of the traditional world of art. Given the perspective of hindsight, Valerieann feels this separation has allowed her to develop her own unique way of expressing who she is through art. She not only captures the beauties of the physical world, she ably captures realities beyond this dimension, giving them physical form.
Valerieann relies on a deep and abiding spirituality to guide her work. Her works are created after periods of repose, meditation, and communion with the divine. Viewers of her works feel this spiritual element by the inner sense of peace and calm her works invoke.
The Art . . .
Valerieann's early works feature a more traditional style of art. In 1995, however, she began going inside and painting her "inner landscapes." By combining her realistic techniques and her more inward approach, she is able to infuse objective pieces with greater feeling and emotion.
The Book Covers . . .
Valerieann's paintings are featured on the covers of several books including "Feelings Buried Alive Never Die . . ." and "Healing Feelings With Your Heart" by Karol K. Truman. After her artwork was featured on the revised edition of this book, the sales increased dramatically.
The Poetry . . .
Most of Valerieann's works are accompanied by poetry. By assisting the viewer in understanding the message of her works, Valerieann's goal of guiding the viewer to a deeper awareness of the truth of who they are is realized. Many have said that her poetry stands alone as a work of art.
Teaching . . .
Over the last twenty years, Valerieann has taught art lessons in Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah. Along with teaching the basic art techniques, Valerieann's teaching focuses on freeing the artist and awakening them to the creator within.
Her students report . . .

Artist Statement . . .
The color of light, the beauty of the world,
and the power driving me from within
have carried me down a path of re-creating that world.
Finally realizing that there was more to art
than the outward appearance of things,
I began exploring the path of internal life.
“How do you paint that inner life?” I asked.
Exploring the possibilities, I felt that I should begin by
learning to paint my own inner life . . . the light within.
The words of Robert Henri inspired me to allow new ways of painting to emerge. He said, “We are not here to do what has already been done.”
He also stated, “The object, which is behind every true work of art, is the attainment of a state of being, a state of high functioning, a more than ordinary moment of existence.”
At my easel, I experience that flight into another state of being. When it happens, there is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through me into the paint and onto the canvas, giving shape and expression to those esoteric visions. Things created while in this state are transformed into a likeness of that state. Those who view art created in this way are also transformed by the balance, wholeness, and harmony of it.
To me, creating art is an expression of the sacred. It is reached through a process of refining integrity, skill, knowledge, and experience into an artistic statement conveying love, openness, and acceptance—and something that is ultimately inspiring for the human condition. Art that surpasses or transcends the natural and undeveloped aspect of the paint can move into the spiritual, providing the feeling and attitude of the artist and deal with the inner spirit of man rather than the outer and physical. My joy is not only in painting physical form, it is in giving physical form to realities beyond the visible, serving as a conveyer of spiritual vision and hope for mankind.
Seeing the inner light take form . . . is knowing joy!
Sharing that with others . . . is knowing love!
Knowing the Creator within, . . . is knowing the Creator of all!
Being one with that life force . . . is knowing your true Self!
This is an exciting journey for me!
One of learning to better employ the language of
the visual world to portray the mysteries of life.
May the creator within be awakened in everyone—
shining forth in glory!
“To your divine self be true!”
